Nick was diagnosed with Type One Diabetes on December 25th, 1994....Christmas Day! That is a Christmas we won't forget. Poor boy....having to get poked so much. I stayed with him the whole time and tried to make it seem 'cool' to check your blood a thousand times a day and have shots. Things have changed a lot in the past 15 years of having diabetes. Nick now has a insulin pump and his blood checking meter is half the size and a hundred times faster at reading his blood sugars. Every Cmas I give him a stuffed animal with a syringe stuck in it's leg for his anniversary of Diabetes. He is a real trooper with diabetes....doesn't ever remember not having it.
