Paridisus Punta Cana-DR

i really like this kid...he thought i looked so young...so, of course he was my best friend!
our resort. when we first got here i thought the people weren't nearly as nice as Costa Rica. but we were being bratty spoiled Americans...i realized once we got away from the resorts and saw the people's living conditions. we were complaining about our pillows being too big and giving us a neck ache...that the ice wasn't even cold....etc. i felt ashamed of myself and started trying to say Hola to all the workers, Steve suggested this. what we even thought of complaining about was so stupid! i carried heavy plates for a pregnant worker...waved to the yard guys...asked our tour guides about their families...ok ok...Steve did that. we have so much in the US! who would think to be grateful for water you can drink out of a faucet? most of the places we went had plugged toilets...they would have to carry big buckets of water to unplug them....many didn't have toilet seats and we had to search for toilet paper. our tour guides talked about how they worked over 8 hours days and then they went to college in the evening. i don't know how they do it! such tiny houses most of the people live in...they had all their doors open and sat on the front porch and you could look into their houses...not a lot...but clean...which was weird cuz they threw their garbage in allies and in the streams and rivers. it made me want to puke to see so much garbage in their water! no wonder i got so sick! they have these huge plastic barrels on top of their houses to catch rain water to use for washing...they looked like our water storage barrels. i was ashamed of a lot of the Americans...so drunk that they were idiots...and complaining....i made sure not to do that after the first day! there were all sorts of new friends at our resort. a big group from Argentina, Chile, all over Europe, Brazil. i like meeting new people.
